Accommodation for study in Seoul

There are some options and the most common ways will be :

1. University dormitory

2. Priviate dormitoy

3. Studio

4. Shared flat

 

1. University dormitory

Korean universities have their own dormitory in general and also some dormitories are offered only by international students.

Living in the university dormitory can be best way to save your budjet.

As you can see the fee is much different between universities when I google it and usually private university's dormitory has not that cheap price.

To get exact price, you should ask your university but usually they give you an instruction about it.

Also, it is possible the dormitory has a rule which is a curfew.

So, if you do not like to be restricted, university dormitories are not good a choice to you.

 

2. Priviate dormitoy

Seoul has some private dormitories for international students.

Most of private dormitories are located in the middle of Seoul, Jongno-gu(Jongno-district) and Jung-gu(Jung-district).

If you can find a private dormitories near your host university, it will be a good choice.

You can meet international people like you and make friends fast.

The price would be 600 or 700 euro per month with one month or two months deposit for one bed room as far as I know.

Usually the room is included a bathroom but kitchen will be shared.

It is more expensive than university dormitories but it would have better quality of facilities.

3. Studio

Living in one bedroom apartment is common for Korean students.

I do not recommend to live there if you are not fluent Korean because the flat owner or agency can ask high amount of deposit(usually 10 months price in Korea) and you may need to write contract in Korean.

Also, it is really hard to make a short term contract for four months or five months, even half of a year, because generally Korean people contract for one year.

 

4. Shared flat

I saw some exchange students are living shard flat.

I heard some agencies offer that kinds of flat for international students with not bad price(between an university dormitory and a private dormitory) and the students found the agency from facebook.

If you are staying in Korea for two semester, it will be nice to live there with others but it would not be good for short term for some reasons.

Also, it is possible you have to make contract in Korean.
